With Venus in Cancer since mid-June, the ocean murmurs an ode to strong womxn and allies. Moving with the tide, Cancer the Crab draws in good souls from the sea of love. We have also been spending more time on our own, delving into the heart. Cancer Season is an incubation period. This is when we shield and stabilize the heart, ever sensitive and vulnerable. We cultivate our intuition; refine our listening powers. We have been curled tightly in a beautiful rosy shell, holding on to our little beating hearts as the waves of Cancer Season rock us once again. I hope you find peace beneath the waves, wrapped up in a precious pearly egg.

Venus transits speak to our heart and how the heart connects to others. With Venus in Leo, the heart radiates sultry fire. Whether you’re single, lovesick, alone in the woods, or melting in a city, you’ll feel Leo’s blaze gushing from your savage soul. Similarly to Cancer, Venus in Leo is really about self-love.

Leo’s sunshine brings us out to play with friends, out into the community. Venus in Leo, much like Pride Season itself, kindles pride, sensuality, creativity, and inner fire. It’s a colorful and energizing time. Fire signs certainly have an edge that water signs do not. Though Leo may resemble Cancer with his sensitivity, he has entire volcanos of sass too. Venus in Leo will make us more headstrong, argumentative, and stubborn. But don’t take Leo’s fickle moods too seriously as they are exactly that: subject to change at any moment.

One manifestation of Leo is the angry child, flickering with shades of violent emotion. In the heat of the moment, Leo says things he doesn’t mean. This includes cheeky things. Sometimes Venus in Leo overstates reality to create momentary excitement, to escape from mental or emotional boredom. But don’t be fooled by the pyrotechnics. Although the lion’s heart is open and courageous, it is also easily bruised.

Another manifestation of Venus in Leo is the gentle giant: soft, caring, scooping up loved ones with padded paws. And did someone say shopping spree? It’s no secret that Leo likes to indulge. He loves to spend money and go out. Part of his karma (besides channeling his impressive will power into the right mediums) involves overcoming attachment to material possessions, especially clothes (shoes!), food, bevvies, vacations, and luxuries of all kinds.

I hope you treat yourself and seize the moment. And most of all, I hope that you love yourself more by the end of this fiery dance.

The first day of Venus in Leo (July 11) comes on the heels of a gorgeous trine between Venus in Cancer and Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. Life/death/life cycle. Mega water energy. Aug 2: Venus square Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. All things bizarre, unsettling, and unusual. Not conducive for travel or socializing. Routine will be thrown off. Cancellations common; new plans are in order.

Aug 4 (last day of transit): New Moon in Leo + Mercury Retrograde begins
