Supermoon in Gemini ♊ Dec 3, 2017
Sunday, December 3 at 7.48am PST
This moon is called the Full Cold Moon. It is a Supermoon, one of only two full supermoons this year. A supermoon occurs when the moon is at perigee or within 90% of perigee (the point at which the moon is nearest to the earth). The moon will be 357,492 km from Earth.
The Supermoon in Gemini is an opposition between the Sun in Sagittarius and sweet Luna in Gemini. At every full moon, the stars pull at our innards. One moment we feel whole, the next we stand looking at ourselves as though only an image, non-corporeal, a vacated body. We must remember that we are both seer and seen.
A clear lesson at this full moon lies in thinking without doing. Blind optimism collapses in a blaze, then amasses transmuted into one giant thread and needle burning the lips and strangling the mind. This full moon is an arrow which cuts the umbilical cord, illuminating Truth sealed and sewn under the flesh. All that is familiar is shattered to expose what we have always known, to speak with actions which leave no mystery. We curse as the cord is broken, but all falsity ends one day and when it does, we are free to live in Truth, free from denial and pretending.
Even the smallest of details and ostensible insignificances are very important. This full moon is a lesson in consequence. Together, Gemini and Sagittarius are awkward and deceptively complicated. A myriad of potholes must be sidestepped. These potholes specifically are loaded silence and two-faced behavior. And even when operating at our absolute best, we will still encounter roadblocks.
One or more parties in conflict will be unaware that they have offended others. A decision must be made by those offended: to speak or not to speak? Herein lies the awkwardness. We want to make the best of shared circumstances. But at what cost? Can ego step aside? Truth is the force which shatters the familiar. Can we separate the messenger from the message? Can we see Truth dripping gloriously like bitter candy from the lips of those we love? Bearer of Truth, if that is you, assess your situation with crystal clarity. Can you preserve harmony? How far will you go to expose Truth? Where is the grace?
The most important thing to remember at any full moon is that emotional, psychic and physical energy are all very heightened. It is our duty to remain calm and non-reactive no matter what happens. Non-reaction is the root of all journeys made in the name of self-control and self-discipline. Find a way to communicate without infusing your language or comportment with anger. The moon begs us to begin our sentences with, “I am feeling…”
This Supermoon is vinegar for the splintered soul. Boulders roll silently forward. Only when they split and crack, falling here and there, do we realize what has been at work. We cannot escape the stars! Think twice, think three times, then think again. Your breath is your best friend. Take time alone. No sudden movements. Celebrate the Supermoon with Gemini Yoga.
