Super Sturgeon Moon in Aquarius ♒ Aug 19, 2024

The August full moon is called the Sturgeon Moon as it coincides with abundant fish catches. Moonrise at sunset, peak at midnight, moonset at sunrise all over the world. This is the first of 4 supermoons this year, all happening right in a row (Aug-Nov), but also the last moon phase of Leo Season 2024.

Every summer during Leo time we gather beneath the full moon in change-maker Aquarius. I cannot overstate the unpredictable nature of Aquarius. Think about the most shocking moments of your life (both negative and positive) – that’s how unexpected Aquarius is. We should all be prepared for twists and turns in our personal lives. This is especially true for people with natal planets & points in the final degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, or Aquarius.

There is no way to prepare for these events, which is both good and bad. We do need to be VERY cautious as this full moon will be locked in an almost exact T-square with the sun & Uranus in Taurus. We should not expect anything at all to work out as expected. Travel definitely not recommended. The day is very busy: in the morning Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn Retrograde in Pisces. The Leo Sun squares Uranus a couple hours before the supermoon. And then later in the afternoon, Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn Rx. AND Mercury Retrograde will be in full force too.

Once again: this is going to be a SUPER POWERFUL DAY. The energy is decidedly erratic. Plans will change suddenly. The Venus-Saturn opposition suggests tension and arguments. We may feel anxious about “how things are going” and then try to do too much at once. Many channels of thought and possibility open together and fall into a frenzied confluence. Trust your intuition.

As for Jupiter square Saturn, this is all about confronting our personal conception of how capable we are. Saturn rules duty and responsibility. Opportunities will come our way but the question is: am I ready to take it on? Saturn’s influence (read: pressure!) indicates a period of major growth.

The Super Full Moon in Aquarius reminds us each year that we don’t really know how anything will unfold. We also cannot deny the possibility that everything might unfold for the best. We alone have the power to choose how we react to change. It is precisely this reaction which defines our path at this full moon.

As an air sign, Aquarius is associated with communication. We will be connecting with friends and loved ones who are far away (or from faraway places) at this full moon. We need to communicate how we feel about things and make sure our boundaries are nice and healthy.

Our immune systems will be compromised due to the influx of Aquarius’ highly electric energy.

With steady voice and action, we rise higher like the eagle Aquila.
