Happy *Super* New Moon! Even new moons qualify as supermoons because, according to Richard Nolle’s definition, they can occur “with the moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit.” This phenomenon is also known as perigee.

The Super New Moon in Taurus is an earthy kiss, two hearts beating as one. See a dwelling deep in the woods: leafy green vegetation, brilliant fruits, a cacophony of birdsong. Heart, mind and spirit interwoven; eternal tranquility in the body; rosy inhalation. A suitable intention for this new moon: to be grateful for what is. This is the highest manifestation of the fixed modality – genuine appreciation for the plenitude that springs endlessly and perfectly from the center of centers.

Taurus radiates profound warmth, peace and contentedness. She eats the sweet fruit of inner abundance as she plods along. Bask in the bright, full feeling that only Taurus can provide. Her real home and wealth lie within. If you seek happiness and comfort in the external world, you will inevitably discover that all you sense is merely a reflection. From the great poet Rumi: “Don’t worry about transient things. Think how the animals live.”

During the Aries cycle life is like freshly poured concrete. Listen carefully because this concrete is settling now. The Aries cycle forced us to outline exactly what we want this year to look like. Consciously or not, you have chosen a direction. Look inside yourself before you start walking. Stand in front of the mirror and speak aloud your intentions. We need to do this and feel nothing but joy – no fear or hesitation, not one iota!

It is absolutely essential that we ground in intuition. If you’re feeling impatient, wondering when things will pick up, an insatiable restlessness in the seat of your soul – these are signs that you need to move, and move quickly. Earth energy is heavy indeed; once the broad-shouldered bull collapses with a mighty sigh, good luck getting her up again. If you’re feeling that weight already, this is only the beginning. I don’t mean to inspire fear. You just need to trust yourself! New moons help us clear out and start over. It won’t be as effortless as last month’s new moon, but it is surely not impossible, and the Universe will support you indefinitely. To those who feel a soul need for colossal shift, FEAR NOT.

At this new moon last year I had just returned from Asia and was back in my homeland, northern Michigan. I felt Taurus holding me in this familiar landscape. My little cat, home-cooked meals, flowers all around. But stagnant as ever. The thrill of traveling slowly faded, and a humdrum came in its place, small circles eddying out into the bay, nowhere to go. I felt trapped, denied some glory of which I did not even know the name. But I waited somewhat patiently, and once Gemini season came, I was off again, on the next adventure, and it was even better than before.
