Virgo Season ♍️ 2024

Aug 22 – Sep 22 (Fall Equinox), 2024

Virgo, goddess of harvest, archetypal sister of Demeter and Persephone, here now to work and hum between rows of towering plants. We need to be outside to understand this constellation. Virgo lives in verdure, in sun and wind, in dry rustling grasses; in dawn footsteps crunching to the creek, beneath tree and star, washing her face in the singing river.

…and then Virgo becomes so consumed by her work that she forgets to breathe or rest. Having said that, she is hardly just a worker bee. She is the empress of agency and bodily sovereignty, maintaining crisp boundaries in the name of self-empowerment. What is the real meaning of virginity? What is this spiritual power? It is the power to decide when and with whom to share one’s body. Virgo the Virgin is not anything like what you’ve been told. She is in total control of herself and her destiny.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the fleet-footed messenger god. Her mind races, forever in analytical overdrive. Virgo also needs to process everything verbally. The Virgo life flies quickly and with many moving parts. Expect this cycle to be, as always, insanely busy. It’s the season of harvest and going back to school. Feel it sprouting in your stomach and aching in your fingers, this stinging, mercurial anticipation.

So many changes take place during Virgo season. This transit is about practice, devotion, and perspicacity. Virgo is here to help us monitor, sort, and categorize. She is also here to strike a balance between work and rest, between duty and repose. She demands continual and discernible improvement within and without. What does improvement in self-care look like? Less judgment, less rigidity, more spaciousness.

Virgo also increases awareness towards our body and what we put into it. Now is the time to (re)commit to regular exercise and healthy eating.

Heads up: Mercury will still be retrograde for the first week of Virgo Season.

The 1st day of Virgo Season (Aug 22), coincides with a sharp square between Venus in Virgo and Mars in Gemini. This aspect is rough on the body. We will really really need to boost our immune system in the days before. Anxiety will also need to be managed. Get lots of rest.

Sep 9: Mercury, ruler of Virgo, joins the Virgo party again, super-charging Virgo Season 🌿✨

Sep 12: Sun square Jupiter in Gemini. Hopes and expectations clash with reality. This one can be explosive. Jupiter does not respond well under pressure. Tread lightly.

Sep 17: Supermoon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces 🌕🐠

Sep 19: Sun trine Uranus Rx in Taurus. Quick, fun, adventurous energy. Busy day, especially on the social front. New friends appear.

Sep 20: Sun opposite Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. As though in deep sleep, we move forward into the future without knowing the details. Take care of your health; this opposition signals fatigue and/or illness. Vivid dreams; fantasy world; emotional processing.

Sep 22 (Equinox/last day of Virgo Season): Sun trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn + Fall Equinox (6:43 am CDT) / beginning of Libra Season + Venus in Libra square Pluto Rx + Venus enters Scorpio. Pluto’s influence is sexy & empowering. Here we are feeling strong and capable. High energy, productive. When Pluto is involved, complex karmic destines are hatching and we do not get to know the details until much later.
