Welcome to the Kingdom of Leo, prowling emperor of the savannah. Leo is ruled by the sun, so the sun is “at home” for this cycle. This is auspicious. It’s why everyone loves Leo Season. It simply feels good, feels right.

Leo celebrates the unique individual within all of us. Part of this celebration involves luxury and leisure. It’s time to chill, take it easy, relax. Leo is associated with play and recreation. This includes taking time to focus on art and creative expression. “Work hard, play hard” is definitely a motto that applies to Leo, with an emphasis on play. Leo is also associated with children, the inner child, and the importance of continuing to be playful as an adult.

The idea behind Leo Season is that by spending more time with ourselves – loving and appreciating ourselves, expressing ourselves – we increase our self worth and self respect. Leo rules the ego but it’s not all flames and fury. Balanced Leo energy channels this heat into healthy, productive trajectories.

Before Leo can activate, he has to reckon with a powerful rage in his psyche. Leo’s personality is as strong as it gets. It comes with jagged edges and burning walls. It also carries a force rivaled by few. One karmic purpose behind incarnation as a Leo is to unlock his unstoppable will power.

Where’s the block? How to open up?

Meditate on manifestation. Meditate on creativity, expression, and pride.

In Ayurvedic medicine, Leo belongs to the pitta dosha. Pitta individuals are loyal and ambitious. Their character is like the fire element: assertive, active, decisive, and determined. Pitta types should avoid nightshades (peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, etc) and oily/fried foods as these increase internal fire (agni) and therefore make the individual more aggressive or impatient.

During Leo Season, try eating cool foods like melon, cucumber, mint, basil, and raw foods. There are free, legitimate tests you can take online to determine your dosha. Search for “dosha test” or “prakriti test.” I highly recommend finding out your dosha – this is a HUGE help in deciding which foods are best for you.

July 22 (1st day of Leo Szn): Sun opposite Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. Power & control dynamics reach a boiling point. Jealousy & darkness. Tread lightly.

Aug 4: New Moon in Leo + Venus enters Virgo + Mercury Retrograde begins ☠️

Aug 18: Mercury Retrograde square Uranus in Taurus + Sun conjunct Mercury Rx + Venus in Virgo square Jupiter in Gemini. This day will make it crystal clear which relationships are working or not. Huge spotlight on not just communication but also expectations. Take good care of yourself; super intense day.

Aug 19: Venus in Virgo opposite Saturn Retrograde in Pisces + Sun square Uranus in Taurus + Super Full Moon in Aquarius + Jupiter in Gemini square Saturn Rx. SUPER POWERFUL DAY. Erratic energy, sudden change of plans. Tension, arguments. Anxiety about “how things are going.” Trying to do too much at once. Many things happening concurrently. Trust your intuition.

As for Jupiter square Saturn: this square is all about confronting our personal conception of how capable we are. Saturn rules duty and responsibility. Opportunities will come our way but the question is: am I ready to take it on? Saturn’s influence (read: pressure!) indicates a period of major growth. This is an excellent time to take risks, start something new, and/or enter into a new career.
