Happy new moon and happy eclipse! This total solar eclipse will only be visible in Antarctica. Viewers in parts of southern Africa may see a partial eclipse.
Solar eclipses mean emotional rebirth. Moon swallows sun. Incubate this fire and water. This is happening in the constellation of Sagittarius, the last fire sign in the trilogy. The most recent solar eclipse was this summer in the constellation of Gemini. An eclipse never comes alone. A solar eclipse always arrives two weeks before or after a lunar eclipse. Two weeks before this Sagittarian solar eclipse, we have the Full Moon Beaver Eclipse in Taurus.
Sagittarius is optimistic and full of energy. I recommend physical exercise to release restlessness. Go somewhere you’ve never been before. Let Sagittarius stretch the mind with new plans and ideas.
If Sagittarius were a magic potion, it would be one part curiosity, one part adventure, and one part naïveté. We need to take a look at how and where we expend our energy. Are we burning up our precious inner fuel unnecessarily?
The centaur rules spirituality and philosophy, or anything which expands consciousness. Sagittarius also radiates the power of generosity, which expands the heart.
This is normally a time of year when we get together and celebrate. We need one another more than ever. In our marrow, we remember what our ancestors have done every winter: build a fire, light a candle, and gather round.
In the depths of winter, we remember what is most important, what is most nourishing to the soul. As light slips through our fingers, we reach for inner light. Warmth and laughter carry us through each darkening day. Sagittarius invites us to (re)incorporate more color and zest. Flora wither and gray outside, so we wrap ourselves in auric robes of magenta and gold. We stoke the vibes with shades of fuchsia, violet, tangerine. We build heat in our bodies by moving and sweating. And the fire in our minds we kindle with inspiring conversation. This is the season to discuss moral, ethical, and philosophical questions. At night when the candle is lit and we have taken our seats, a wise elder clears his throat. This is the profound art of intellectual exploration that Sagittarius brings to the table every year.
The fires of Sagittarius help us begin again. Throw it all in the flames; let it disappear into the sky.
Good news: this new moon solar eclipse will form a friendly conjunction to Mercury in Sagittarius. The Sag sun will form an exact conjunction to Mercury the weekend before. This signals success and harmony in communication. Excellent influence of travel, creative projects, and networking.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Sag is all about moving forward. If you’re not happy, make a change. You know what you need to do. Of course we can make change whenever, but new moon solar eclipses are the perfect window of opportunity. In meditation, focus on the sacral chakra. Keep it toasty with Sagittarius Yoga.
