Happy new moon, happy solar eclipse! This one is a partial, annular solar eclipse. This solar eclipse will only be visible from southern South America.
An eclipse never comes alone. Solar eclipses arrive two weeks before or after a full moon lunar eclipse. Two weeks before this solar eclipse we have a Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on Sep 17.
Libra Season is always brutal. This Solar Eclipse in Libra will require an extraordinary level of honesty in order to successfully unlock the golden gate. We never leave Libra’s garden without learning some hard lessons. Toxic and/or complicated relationships will drain our energy as we either a) try to work it out or b) try to separate ourselves. This is Libra’s specialty, honing in on our relationships, including relationship to Self, so that we can make healthy changes.
The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra reflects things as they are. Peace & love are not exactly rippling across the face of the planet. There is so much work to be done in terms of how we relate and care for one another. Ready or not, we need to dive right in to the most uncomfortable aspects of our relationships with friends, family, loved ones, and community. It will feel incredibly awkward but we need to take a seat at the proverbial table and talk some shit out. We need to be honest and assertive like it’s our job. More importantly, we need to listen to one another.
Libra comes from the Greek goddess Themis, whose name translates to “divine law.” Themis is often depicted blindfolded, wielding a sword to cut through delusion. Libra’s sword is not a weapon. It is designed to unearth truth and draw boundaries. To set boundaries is to love yourself and others. Boundaries are a form of communication. They are necessary and beneficial. Through boundary-setting we simultaneously heal our relationship to self and others.
Our relationships are a reflection of ourselves and who we are right now. Everyone we meet is a teacher, illuminating our personal strengths and weaknesses. The people who irritate us most are simply showing us where we haven’t yet matured enough to be an impartial witness!
At this solar eclipse last year, one friend’s dog bit another friend’s hand and what ensued was a very complicated and delicate exchange of words and emotions. The whole thing was laced with repression, pain, and defensiveness. The air was charged and tense, even before the incident. I found myself in the middle, trying to delegate between my two friends who now hated one another. I’m telling you this because we will need to summon all of our diplomacy skills to navigate the discomfort of this eclipse!
Libra Season is a reclamation of our pride, dignity, and voice. Speak and be heard; listen and behold. Raise up the voices of your sisters.
love ~ peace ~ harmony ~ community ~ communication ~ interconnectedness
This solar eclipse forms a loose conjunction to Mercury in Libra. Mercury is really going to emphasize the importance of communication. We need to be bold and direct. Everything is going to feel as though it’s moving very quickly. Physically moving through travel or exercise is a great way to incorporate this airy energy.
