Happy Scorpio Season! Every month the moon spins into the same constellation as the sun. This lunar-solar conjunction is what we call a new moon. This month the moon and sun soak together in the mysterious waters of Scorpio.
New moons are new beginnings. This time we’re asked to consider our healing journey. Past pain & trauma are up for review. I know, sounds amazing. Scorpio is also associated with sex, intimacy, inheritance, and shared wealth.
Scorpio’s attention is directed inward to our own hidden caverns, as well as those of others. We are curious about what motivates others as we ponder our own habits and reactions – what is the root, the origin of a given impulse? In understanding the subconscious motivations of others, we become more powerful. This inner knowing is actually a form of empathy. Insight to the emotions of others makes forgiveness easier. Remember all that we have learned from Libra Season.
Scorpio, like her animal counterpart, lives in the unseen parts of human life. Like her, we must peer into the shadow and put words to the wordless; we must shed light on that which repels it.
Scorpions are the only animals known to commit suicide in the face of death, choosing to take control of the death experience rather than submitting to it. Their need for control is that strong: uncontrolled death is not death, but defeat.
Though she is often depicted as a dark and morbid archetype, it is important to remember that the scorpion swims towards chaos in order to transform. Scorpio learns the hard way, routinely stinging those she loves most.
I think what brings Scorpio to her knees is the idea that her power can be channeled in a way that is gentle and graceful. It does not need to be so arduous, so dark, so intense. It can be light and beautiful and forgiving.
This new moon is a death process but there’s nothing sad about it. Sometimes we have to kill something off in our lives, figuratively speaking, rather than continue living through unacceptable conditions. We have to do this in order to be be more free and empowered.
So, chiquitos, what has become so heavy that you can’t bear it anymore? This new moon seeks release from pain and suffering. The scorpion is also a master minimalist and essentialist as she values quality over quantity, so this is a good time to get rid of anything you don’t need – materially, emotionally, or otherwise.
Great news: the moon forms a harmonious trine to Saturn Retrograde in Pisces, offering unparalleled support and grounding.
Past notes on this new moon: heart & body healing; internal turning point; stress & overwhelm without solutions gives way to surrender & acceptance
resilience ~ power ~ self-control ~ self-love ~ metamorphosis ~ rebirth
New moons make us feel more tired than usual. Sleep and silence are important. This is not a social phase. Rest is the vibe. This is not a time to push. It is, however, a good time to write, meditate, or engage in any spiritual practice which takes you deep within yourself. You will know what you need to do. In meditation, focus on the sacral chakra.
