Mercury lives in the mind, communication, and throat chakra. Now we get to experience mercuriality in its most quintessential form, as Mercury rules the constellation of Virgo (and Gemini), the busy bees of the zodiac. Also in Virgo at this time: Mars, Venus, and soon the sun as well.

Virgo Season begins Aug 22. It is perhaps the busiest time of year, which makes sense when we dive in to mercurial essence and understand its lightning rhythms.

Mercury channels each constellation directly into the mind, and in Virgo this manifests as hyper-awareness and alertness. Mercury in Virgo is a sharp-eyed bird in analytical overdrive. This perceptivity is designed to help us focus and be pragmatic. It’s time to work, organize, communicate, network, order, sort, and categorize. Good luck finding time to relax! Give special attention to your digestive and sympathetic nervous system.

Virgo rules facets of life such as health, nutrition, work, medicine, and service. In fact, Virgo is so good at being a helpful host/manager/parent/partner that she will work and serve until she is absolutely exhausted. My best advice for Virgos is to slow down and take time for yourself. The world will keep on turning if you sleep an extra hour. Make yourself some dank food. Stay hydrated, take deep breaths, and have fun for once, ya turkeys!

Mercury in Virgo is the antithesis of Mercury Retrograde; everything operates smoothly and efficiently. Virgo is attentive, regimented, precise, productive. To the untrained eye, Virgo appears calm, cool, and collected. Look closely and you will see a bundle of nervous energy vibrating just beneath the surface. Though this certainly contributes to Virgo’s stereotypical anxious personality, the purpose of this mercurial tonic is motivation. Without this flowing through her veins, Virgo would not accomplish all that she does. Become immersed in your body and hands as they work and cut, pull and harvest, chaff and sew. Also watch for increased criticism of self and others. Virgo struggles to just let things be!

Aug 18: Mercury conjunct Mars in Virgo. Extremely productive, analytical, intellectual. Sharp yet impatient mind.

Aug 20: Mercury trine Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. Uranian influence is unexpected and unpredictable.

Aug 24: Mercury opposite Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. This is a confusing, disillusioning influence which makes us unsure of where to go or what to do. There may be sudden changes or twists. The last time this aspect occurred, my face nearly melted off during an intense psychedelic trip. Was not expecting my magic potion to be so strong…!

Aug 26: Mercury trine Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn. Catharsis, especially of a sexual nature. Expect pleasant dreams and deep sleep.
