Mercury in Taurus ☿ 2024
May 15 – June 3, 2024
Mercury rules the mind, communication, and throat chakra. Mercury in Taurus gives us drive, confidence, and conviction. Of course we got all those things with Mercury Retrograde in Aries too, but the earth of Taurus provides more grounding and definition. We’ve got a plan now. Also in Taurus at this time: the Sun (Apr 19-May 20), Venus (Apr 29-May 23), Jupiter (until May 25) and Uranus (2018-2026).
Taurus transits are most favorable for people with natal points in Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn, or Pisces.
Mercury in Taurus is a simple yet indulgent creature. At best, she is a minimalist and essentialist, detached from the illusory comforts of the material world. She eliminates the unimportant to see what is important. Those born with Mercury in Taurus enact this through their speech. They are succinct communicators, truncating and editing as they speak. For this reason Taurus is not a huge fan of small talk. The song playing in my house right now says “Don’t waste my time” – that’s exactly it.
We should not feel guilty for reveling in the two things Mercury in Taurus loves best: speaking our mind and living slowly. The bull lives in the basics.
Mercury in Taurus is self-assured, direct, and assertive. When she’s in a stagnant phase, the cow is complacent, argumentative, intransigent, or judgmental. Taurus can also be impatient, despite expecting others to be infinitely patient with her. (I am a Taurus so I can throw all this shade :p)
The sacred cow is so sensual and passionate yet so averse to change and disruption. Taurus will not build anything on unstable or uncertain ground. This is Taurean suicide, to even risk her security. Taurus fears the unknown. She would rather sustain and maintain what is already known, or what already exists.
Like a sleepy tortoise, Taurus is rooted in place. It’s true that her energy can be a little too still or static. Mercury in Taurus manifests as stagnation of the thoughts/mind when there is not an external agent of motion (like creative work, a group project, a garden, etc) to keep this boulder slowly inching forward. But the message is clear: it’s ok to take your time.
Inner peace is the sacred cow’s specialty. Feel it welling up from deep within the earth.
patience • prosperity • abundance • tranquility • pragmatism
The first day of Mercury in Taurus coincides with the Quarter Moon in Leo, a fiery beginning.
