Mercury in Scorpio ☿ 2024

Oct 13 – Nov 2, 2024
Mercury has been in Libra since Sep 26, placing major emphasis on relationships. This short transit is an excellent window of opportunity to work some shit out and put old patterns to rest. It’s all about connection and communication. Libra teaches the power of assertive rather than avoidant behavior; reconciliation over suppression. We are learning to honor our needs. We will leave feeling better in our hearts. We will also leave feeling closer to ourselves. Self-validation is the only way forward in Libra’s queendom.
And now Scorpio Season, so quiet and serious compared to the breeze of Libra. Mercury in Scorpio will ask us to incorporate recent Libran lessons within. It’s time to gather our power and rise higher.
With Mercury in Scorpio, we may be deep in the fearful mind where trust runs scarce. We may be desperate to hold on but quickly learn that we must give in. Though we do not understand the scorpion at first, her results speak for themselves.
Scorpio is intimately linked to sex, survival, and trauma. She is a hungry animal gnawing and growling, wailing us back to hard nights in the dark autumn woods, alone, fur standing on end. Scorpio is sensual, mystical, driven to uncover motivating forces. Scorpio abides in mystery, in depths where others dare not swim.
Scorpio renders the proverbial death of all that which must die. This is a cathartic yet emotionally-charged cycle. Mercury in Scorpio brings repressed tension to the surface, extracting pain through long overdue conversations, words of forgiveness, apologies, and honesty.
Animals associated with Mercury include the rooster, ram, goat and tortoise. In Scorpio, the ram blazes from Mercury’s breast: passionate and forceful. In ancient times, Scorpio was ruled by Mars, God of War. Though modern astrologers now associate Scorpio with Pluto, her warrior roots are very alive. I see both in her. She is pointed and fierce yet profound. She is fearless and persevering, suspicious and psychoanalytical. When you call her name, you call upon destruction; upon rebirth; upon power & control.
With Mercury in Scorpio, we return to the past to address old wounds. See a cave with the door sealed shut. Inside are all of your jealous skeletons and ancient pains. Scorpio removes the blocks and in come streams of brilliant light and fresh air. You WILL heal. We ARE healing.
This cycle is most favorable for people with natal planets in Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
The first day of Mercury in Scorpio comes on the heels of a last-minute square between Mercury in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto’s influence is heavy and stagnant. Mind unclear; inner turbulence; fatigue; interruptions and disturbances. However a simultaneous sun/Jupiter trine helps ease the flow of energy. Jupiter brings together friends from all over the world. We are collectively moving through issues, slowly but surely.
Oct 21: Mercury trine Saturn Retrograde in Pisces. Body and mind moving together in a healthy flow. Productive and awake.
Oct 22: Scorpio Season begins! 👻☠️🎃
Oct 30: Mercury opposite Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. Uranian influence is unexpected and unpredictable. Body rhythms thrown off; depression; dark & gloomy vibes. Steer clear of alcohol.
Oct 31: Mercury trine Neptune Retrograde in Pisces. Somewhere between sleep, exhaustion, frustration, and heaviness lies a nugget of relief. Neptune’s influence is slow, cozy, prone to fantasy. If all goes well, we’ll get some emotional release.
Nov 2 (last day of transit): Mercury trine Mars in Cancer
