Mercury in Gemini ☿ 2024

Mercury: ruler of travel, communication, and the mind; poet, soothsayer, healer, lucky star, and underworld guide. With magical caduceus in hand, Mercury leads freshly discorporated souls from the lower to the upper worlds.
Taurus Season is over now but Mercury hangs in this constellation for just a bit longer. It hasn’t been easy. Pluto’s return to Aquarius fills Taurus Season with sharp squares and ensures that this time will be arduous for years to come…but we’ll get the hang of it eventually.
Pluto’s presence makes Taurus transits low-key brutal now. Taurus hates change or disruption. She is a sensitive creature. But there are curative powers here, like living slowly; taking time for ourselves; and speaking our mind.
I don’t know about you but I’m really enjoying the breezy transition to Gemini. Mercury rules Gemini (and Virgo), so he is “at home” for this cycle. Gemini & Virgo Season are perhaps the busiest times of the year, and all we have to do is look to ruler Mercury to understand why.
It is auspicious when a planet returns to its home constellation. Soon pure mercurial essence will billow down from the clouds. Plans will be made and executed effortlessly. It’s time to create, communicate, network, write, sing, dance – whatever excites you intellectually or creatively. Gemini is a witty wordsmith, laughing fairy, and traveling musician all rolled into one.
But don’t be fooled by his gregariousness; Gemini is a private soul, cloaked in secrecy. Gemini also conjures anxiety and nervous energy, so we will practice not just how to use this wind, but also how to tame it, how to calm the mind, relax, breathe deeply.
Gemini can’t/won’t stay in one relationship, job, or physical location for long. Infatuated with mystery, Geminis become easily addicted to new people or ideas, and then, just as quickly, drop these obsessions. Here we see the twins’ notorious aloofness. One twin wants to love and be loved; the other can’t wait to fly away and never come back. Gemini routinely leaves his comfort zone to slake an undying thirst for what is real and extreme and intoxicating, then returns to be rocked and lulled by a familiar revolution.
Gemini is a mutable sign, operating always in duality, always in motion. Gemini is the constellation of the twins, so sibling relations are up for review, but really Gemini is a social butterfly with tendrils extending to all circles. This buzzing energy in the skies will help us feel more optimistic and extroverted. It’s time to connect with new friends or reconnect with old ones. Visualize a strong wind blowing through the open door of your life, sweeping out your mind.

June 4: Mercury trine Pluto in Aquarius + Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Gemini + Sun conjunct Venus in Gemini. You will need allll of your strength for this day. Pluto’s intensity looms, threatening to overpower Gemini’s lightness with a mudslide of deep emotional shit. Hopefully we will get some help from Jupiter, the sun, and Venus; they are certainly excellent allies on such a tough day. Mega Gemini day. Be good to yourself!
June 6: New Moon in Gemini
June 12: Mercury square Saturn in Pisces. Deep truth percolates. Conflicted heart. Anxiety and depression. Mental blockages; feeling stuck.
June 14: Sun conjunct Mercury in Gemini. Very high energy day. Extremely productive. Pure adrenaline.
June 17 (last day of Mercury in Gemini): Mercury square Neptune in Pisces. Strangeness abounds. Awkward, forced energy. Restlessness, indecision, feeling lost. The mind yearns to break free.
