Mercury in Aquarius ☿ 2024
Feb 4-23, 2024
Congrats earthlingz and alienz, we made it through another Mercury Retrograde. This winter’s Mercury Retrograde took place in Sagittarius & Capricorn. This cycle put enormous pressure on all things related to work, money and, more generally, how we choose to structure our lives. The archetype of Capricorn in particular tends to be quite rigid and prone to perfectionism. Great news: we’re moving forward now, out of the stuckness and into the sparkling kingdom of creative, brilliant Aquarius. Things are about to feel a lot more fun & less serious.
Mercury in Aquarius invites freedom and detachment. Aquarius also builds on themes related to Mercury (Retrograde) in Sagittarius, like confidence and honesty.
Mercury and Aquarius both embody the air element (- Mercury rules air sign Gemini). Aquarius embodies powerful paradoxes. He is a diehard rationalist and a risk-taker. He is remarkably tolerant and open-minded yet unbreakably stubborn. He is scientific, analytical, and inventive, yet impatient and judgmental. Aquarians are fun, chatty, full of ideas, eager to share their unique prophecies – and yet can detach emotionally at a moment’s notice.
Aquarius scoffs at authority. The root of this indifference – or hatred, at times – lies in knowing that no authority figure is ever going to change the world – we are. And that change starts at the most humble level: inside our own minds, in the garden of our thoughts.
Are you brave enough to follow Aquarius down this path, so far from the main thoroughfare? With Aquarius we have to expect the unexpected. Get ready to have all of your expectations and attachments uprooted. If we listen beyond the chaos we hear the call to rise up and take ownership of our lives & future.
In Native American astrology, Aquarius is associated with the otter, the quaking aspen, and silver. If you are feeling stuck, meditate on the playful otter. Meditate on the sheen of aspen leaves, hear them rustle in the winter wind. See quicksilver clouds racing across the sky.
Every constellation is a preparation for the next. Aquarian lessons prepare us for Pisces. The water bearer’s electric winds create empty space for the bottomless ocean of the fishes. Soon the left brain intellect will give way to a magnificent, nebulous swirl of right brain spirituality and creation.
Feb 5: Mercury conjunct Pluto in Aquarius. Expect the unexpected! Extremely dynamic. Gold star day. Restless energy, insomnia.
Feb 9: New Moon in Aquarius / Chinese New Year – Year of the Wood Dragon
Feb 10: Mercury square Jupiter in Taurus. Restlessness, vivid dreams. Unclear mind.
Feb 13: Mars joins the Aquarius party
Feb 16: Mercury square Uranus in Taurus + Waxing Quarter Moon in Taurus + Venus joins the Aquarius party. Take precautions against headaches and nightmares. Get lots of rest, avoid spending time on screens.
Feb 18: Pisces Season begins 🐠✨
