Mars: fiery warrior of the solar system, ruler of the body, health, sex, and will power. With Mars in Cancer since late March, we have been slowly, painfully reconnecting with our creativity and emotional life. Mars in Cancer exposed our most tender yearnings for love, home, security, and belonging. The body-mind, too, is feeling soft, tender, vulnerable. We are meditating on self-care and gently addressing whether or not we have been practicing it.
Let’s keep following our intuition now, back to the divine mother, like sea turtles, returning to the beach of their birth.
The journey continues now with Mars in Leo. Look forward to increased pleasure and leisure. Leo the Lion is a ripe violet grape; a festival; a crown of rainbow jewels; a scarab beetle; a circus; a barrel of wine; a golden ring; a noble leader.
Mars in Leo cultivates strength and sovereignty. Here we are more resilient and independent. We will improve our relationship with ourselves, not just on a self-care level, but also in the way that we see ourselves. It’s time to rise up and be confident, decisive, straightforward, honest.
Leo times are warm and silly and full of abundance. Mars in Leo allows us to experience life not just through the flames of the ego, but the heart as well, and here transpires great depth of feeling. Paint the air with words of love, gigantic stars of passion flaming from your lips, dripping into your lover’s mouth.
Mars shapes our drive and ambition. With Mars in Leo, we are still motivated by a deep need for emotional security and stability, just like with Mars in Cancer, but we are less sensitive now and more sure of ourselves. We can ride the waves of our emotions without falling.
With Mars in Leo we are also motivated by loyalty. Leo holds his friends and family close. Though he is a social butterfly, the lion’s inner circle is actually very small. To these people he is fiercely devoted, and in return he expects profound love and respect.
When Leo waltzes onto the cosmic scene, we are more likely to splurge or binge. Leo values both quality and quantity. He does not mind spending money on something if it seems like a good investment, or if he expects that it will bring him great pleasure. Of course the best case scenario is if someone else pays!
Mars in Leo is challenging in many ways, for the heart and the ego. There will be hot days and fiery emotions, strong personalities, at once an abundance of activity and a languor, sweeping the valley in hazy golden waves; ripe fruits and ardent feelings; burning sun and cool water; lust and intensity.
May 20: Mars opposite Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. Intense pressure on the body and ego. Anger and inflammation. Deep dark work of the soul manifesting in the body.
May 22: Mars square Jupiter in Taurus. We may be feeling off, frustrated, or overwhelmed. A good time to decompress and practice self-care.
June 21: Summer Solstice / 1st day of Cancer Season
June 26: Mars square Uranus in Taurus. Unexpected vibes. Pressure on the body, ego, & emotions; fire and electricity; miscommunication; erratic and scattered yet undeniably energizing.
