With Mars in Pisces since the Spring Equinox, chapters are ending. Some of them have closed forcefully and suddenly, as though out of nowhere. Only half-pieces of dreams remain. Life slows and flows in vague, nebulous directions. In this long, strange dream, Mars in Pisces asks us to confront all that we have tried to evade. Mood swings, boredom, apathy, and fatigue crop up and steal our energy. Avoiding vices and moving the body are a few ways to bring clarity to this murky transit. Food, water, and sleep are important. Self-care helps us make sense of all these mysterious changes. Negative outcomes include settling for something we don’t actually want; internalizing strong feelings rather than voicing them; and incorrect assumptions based on emotions/beliefs rather than logic/observation.

It is hard to see the progress that we make at this time.

And then –

Wind and fire rage across the land. Everything is melting and burning. Ash rains down from a blood red sky. Chaos and violence spiral out of control. Is this the apocalypse or revolution? Inaction is not an option.

We’re going back to this scene, back to the red planet. Mars: ruler of the body; ruler of our muscles, blood, carnal urges, and primal impulses. Mars governs Aries, the first constellation in the zodiac, and it is here that he returns now with a song of victory on his lips.

Every two years, Mars in Aries showers us with physical and sexual energy. Aries is pure molten stamina, sublime titillation from head to foot. We are moving forward with fire on our breath. We are fresh, alive, ready to go. Prepare for a powerful reconnection to your body and sexuality.

Aries is the sign of the leader. The Aries leader stands alone, arrogant and self-assured. Impatient Aries can’t sit still for long. Study the way children move and speak and you will know Aries: running and laughing through life, cutting corners, teasing his loved ones.

Mars and Venus were passionate lovers. In his dissertation titled On Love, 15th century Italian philosopher Marsilio Ficino made a striking discovery upon studying ancient artwork depicting the lovers: “Only Venus dominates Mars, and he never dominates her.”

Mars in Aries is restless, stubborn, independent, and hotheaded. Frustration and impatience bubble up quickly here. The essence of Aries is feral and untamed. When this energy passes through certain human beings, it turns them into mindless rage machines. Be careful around people who are already aggressive or competitive as they will be even more reckless at this time.

People with strong Aries in the chart tend toward baldness or thin hair due to excess testosterone in their biochemistry. Another manifestation is a propensity for unusual haircuts or facial piercings – anything which draws attention to the head.

Heads up: the first day of Mars in Aries (Apr 30) coincides with a sharp square between Venus in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius. This one is intense on the body. Prepare for some discomfort. The word toxicity comes to mind. Likewise the last day of Mars in Aries (June 8) coincides with another square between Venus & Saturn so the exit will be a little rough too.

This is totally crazy but it looks like Mars is not forming any significant aspects to other planets. Here are other highlights of the transit:
