Happy full moon! Happy lunar eclipse! The October full moon is called the Hunter’s Moon. The moon will rise at sunset, peak at midnight and set at sunrise all over the world.
Eclipses can be full or partial. The earth’s shadow consists of two parts: the shadow cast directly behind the earth is called the umbra, and the fainter, fan-like shadow surrounding the umbra is the penumbra. This full moon is a partial (or penumbral) eclipse. It will be visible from pretty much everywhere except North America.
Sun and moon oppose one another in Taurus and Scorpio. While Taurus walks with confident, self-satisfied steps in daylight hours, Scorpio slinks low to the ground in moonless darkness. This full moon lunar eclipse revolves around power and control. But let’s be clear: it’s the art of self-control we must master now.
Feeling exhausted, depressed, overwhelmed, beholden?
Scorpio is volatile and complex. She claws at the most visceral level, at our insecurities, our trauma, our pain. And then Taurus arrives on sure and steady feet to remind the scorpion to chill the fuck out and make sure we’re eating enough, sleeping enough, and just feeling warm and comfortable and safe.
Winter creeps in day by day. The Lunar Eclipse in Taurus enters at just the right moment with cozy vibes. Taurus is a homebody. She moves slowly and embodies the luxurious, hedonist life of the artist. She is a mighty tree, a tap root, earth mama extraordinaire, a good friend and nurturing soul. Aesthetic is also very important to Taurus. All things soft, warm, and fuzzy coming our way. Cats; delicious food; long showers; endless sleep.
What to do when we feel the storm rising? Stand your ground like Taurus. Be bold, assertive, decisive. Power through. And then chill. Relax. Celebrate life. This is how Taurus operates, separating work from play, challenge from ease. She knows when to step forward, and when to step back, or lay down. With a cat. This lunar eclipse is an emotional apex, but in a controlled and sensible kind of way. The information we receive is novel, but not entirely. It’s a confirmation of deeper feelings felt along the way.
Major heads up: this lunar eclipse coincides with intense oppositions between both Mars in Scorpio & Mercury in Scorpio vs Jupiter Retrograde in Taurus. Fortunately the moon herself is forming a helpful (albeit loose) sextile to Saturn Retrograde in Pisces, but this likely won’t be enough to ward off the intensity of Mars’ & Mercury’s oppositions. This lunar eclipse is already really really intense on its own, so tread with caution mis amores. Roadblocks and obstacles abound. Headaches, exhaustion, low energy, and/or sickness likely.
