First moon phase of Libra Season 2024! Happy Equinox! The Waning Last Quarter Moon rises at midnight, peaks at dawn, and sets at noon all over the world. [Each year during Libra Season, the new moon will always be in Libra; the full moon will always be in Aries; and the quarter moons will always be in Cancer and Capricorn. These geometric relationships in the zodiac are fixed and unchanging.]

Last quarter moons are turning points or crossroads, clearing the way for the new moon / new lunar cycle. This phase prepares us for a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra on Oct 2.

Libra is the goddess of love, Cancer the great mother spirit. Moon phases during Libra season are significant in a social sense, bringing change to our interpersonal relationships. These changes are both necessary and healing. They help us come back to ourselves.

The moon in Cancer is deeply emotional and sensitive. With Libra’s help, her soft heart rises like a banner. Kindness spreads from soul to soul. Touching gestures fill the empty spaces.

Cancer’s energy is slow and sweet so it will take time to recover, but we are most certainly recovering. We are recovering our sense of self; our energy; our emotional wellbeing. We first need to turn inward like the crab, into our shells, into the womb, so that we may once again turn outward on the wings of Libra’s breeze, out into the world, fearlessly, with a song on our lips.

At this moon phase last year, my friends supported me as I exited an abusive relationship. I slowly began to heal. I came home to myself. I spent the day riding my bike. I took myself out for breakfast. I even started to feel happy again. And I, in turn, supported my friends who were supporting me by offering to dog-sit and be a helpful presence.

Be near the water to catch Cancer’s loving reflections. Eat well and nourish your body. Speak with loved ones. Seek support.

This quarter moon coincides with a harmonious earthen trine between Mercury in Virgo and Uranus Retrograde in Taurus. Furthermore the moon herself forms a nearly exact trine to Venus in Scorpio, promoting true love at the highest level. This phase should pass very smoothly this year, I have a good feeling about it.
