Jupiter in Taurus ♃ 2023-2024

May 16, 2023 – May 25, 2024
It takes 12 years for Jupiter to circle the Sun. Twelve constellations in twelve years = one year per constellation. This next year Jupiter travels through Taurus, goddess of all things green and earthy.
Since May 2022, Jupiter has been playing with fire in Aries. Jupiter in Aries has been an absolute explosion, sometimes of creation and confidence, other times destruction. The potency of this last year cannot be understated. The fire of Aries is ever intoxicating and ever so dangerous. Our ego and most primal senses have guided us forward, doggedly, without rest. Ancient inner voices, freshly reawakened, reminded us of feelings so old and familiar and beautiful. What has emerged is the importance of expressing our needs and desires even if it makes others uncomfortable. As a result of this surge in fearlessness, I’m sure you are sitting in a completely different place/mindspace now than you ever imagined you would be a year ago. Jupiter in Aries is a devilish dance with a devilish pace but we survived somehow, growing tired now, ready to lay with Taurus in her garden and rest for awhile.
Think back to June 2011 – June 2012. What was going on in your life? These same themes are coming back now with Jupiter returning to Taurus for the first time in 12 years.
Where Aries leaps without thought or hesitation, Taurus gazes with patient eyes, silently absorbing every sensory impression from her verdant world. Where Aries moves and dances and burns up the night sky with his light, Taurus collapses on the green earth with a heave and a sigh, exhaling with mighty lungs, hot perfumed breath rolling out amongst the whispering grass.
There is time now for recovery, for stillness. We no longer need to rush, scramble, compete.
There is time now for security and order, stability and longevity. We no longer need to crawl, fight, gamble, fall.
Jupiter in Aries was the beginning of a brand new 12-year cycle. It was the fiery prelude to whatever comes next, and we still have no idea what that will be. There is something here though, some bold sketch of something sparkly and shiny and new, something rough and scary and brilliant.
Taurus is ready to continue this journey, ready to elaborate on the rough draft. We have completely started over – now what? Who is this brand new person with this brand new life?
Jupiter in Taurus wants to know where you belong in this world. Where is your home, your physical home, the place you sleep every night? How is it? How does it feel? The earth, the plants, the soil, the food – how does it feel? Are you nourished, healthy?
Such simple questions and yet the answers are potentially profound. Jupiter in Taurus stitches us back to the earth, back to our senses, back to our most basic needs. Taurus lives in the body and the hands as they tend and prune, plant and harvest. She lives in the belly and the gut, creating bountiful energy for spirit and senses alike.
What is most essential and basic will rise to the fore. With great tenderness we must heed this call and ensure that our inner child is happy and healthy and well-fed. We must ensure that we feel truly at home wherever we are, that we feel comfortable and grounded.
Is this the place, the place to put down roots? Will this path bear fruit and lead you deeper into the Forest of Wellbeing? You’ve got the power and confidence of Aries flaming in your beating heart, now take it and feel the plump seeds forming inside. This is the fertile mystery of Taurus, the form which reveals itself in sensual waves from the primordial soup, the new planet of possibility concretizing from the gaseous ethers.
Dig deep into the earth and deep into yourself. Where have you lost connection? Where can you rekindle the vital motherly bond between body and earth, spirit and matter?
On May 17 (my bday!), just one day into the transit, Jupiter squares Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. Pluto stands firmly in the way of Jupiter’s unbridled enthusiasm, ensuring that no dream or illusion goes unchecked. Pluto adds a level of seriousness to the questioning, spiritual nature of Jupiter. He will not make it easy for us to attain clarity. Doubt and skepticism creep in, as does a feverish, non-constructive restlessness. The key with any hard angle to Jupiter is managing expectations. As long as we don’t believe ourselves capable of accomplishing extraordinary feats, we should be fine. The reality check might actually be very welcome after the whirlwind tour through Jupiter in Aries.
