This full moon in Sagittarius will be the first moon phase of Gemini Season 2024. It follows the First Quarter Moon in Leo, the last moon phase of Taurus Season.

The May full moon is known as the Flower Moon. On full moons, Luna rises at sunset, peaks at midnight and sets at sunrise. When the sun goes down, this is our cue to head outside and watch the moon rise majestically in the east.

Sun and moon oppose one another in Gemini and Sag: the axis of thought vs action. There will be little time, if any, for stillness or rest. This full moon is pure motion. The centaur archer burns through spacetime, arriving rapidly and brilliantly into the future.

Sagittarius is the archetype of the Teacher or Mentor. What we are learning comes together at this critical juncture. This is true in both a philosophical and emotional sense.

The fires of Sagittarius involve a tricky dance with honesty. Sagittarius is an interesting creature. His intentions are pure, his dreams harmless. But he believes in them so much that he is willing to overlook critical details in order to continue living out his fantasy. It is wrong to say that Sagittarius is dishonest; it’s just that he can’t quite grasp the whole reality of anything because that would mean accepting the shadow.

But for now…! let’s coast high on cotton candy dream clouds. Gemini Season will only prolong this effect. Gemini loves a good distraction, a good story, an adventure. When the Summer Solstice comes, it will be time to go inward. But not yet. Sagittarius & Gemini are fast, outward-projecting energies. They carry us out into the world, into relation with other beings.

This full moon happens to be a very busy day. It begins with a conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in Taurus. This is going to give us a hella sweet boost of energy. We’ll be feeling physically strong and confident. Later in the day Venus transitions to Gemini. The full moon herself forms a supportive sextile to Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. This will definitely force us to dance with honesty. Aquarius is a wild card too. Expect a high energy night!
