Just 12 hours before the Fall Equinox/demarcation between Virgo & Libra Season, we have round 2 of the first quarter moon in mutable fire sign Sagittarius. Round 1 was Aug 24, the day after Virgo Season + Mercury Retrograde began. This waxing moon prepares us for yet another super full moon on Sep 29.
This moon phase follows the New Moon in Virgo on Sep 14. The first quarter is the first important juncture after the New Moon and also serves as an overview/takeaway sesh of the entire Virgo Season in general. First quarter phases clarify and elaborate. On the Super Full Moon in Aries we will experience culmination and manifestation of our decisions.
~ At the first quarter, moonrise at noon, peak at dusk, and moonset at midnight [all time zones] ~
This quarter moon demarcates a festive, fluid ending to another festive, fluid Virgo Season. Once again it brings so much change and excitement, and maybe some anxiety too. Major themes to revisit: space/place; creativity & inspiration; body-mind connection; change & endings.
Virgo and Sagittarius are both mutable signs. Mutability is all about adaptability, flexibility, and motion. It’s time to look forward with renewed enthusiasm and optimism. The future beckons and whispers with promises of healthy change. It’s not just that Sagittarius is synonymous with change; Sagittarius is also about finding joy and comfort in change.
Work and health are up for review at this quarter moon, as is happiness. We’re going to feel a new flow of energy & ideas, specifically around how we structure daily life and/or how we choose to support ourselves financially. Sagittarius makes us feel capable and excited again. Life is simply lighter in Sagittarius World. We’ll have drive and confidence to accomplish more at this time. Opportunities open like cosmic flower petals, beckoning us to dance in a new direction.
Virgo’s role in all of this is equally important. Right now she’s holding us down to earth, keeping us grounded and nourished. She holds Sagittarius accountable to all the dreamlike plans he makes with starry eyes, late at night around the fire.
Sagittarius is expansive, always running. We don’t need to do anything to expedite the pace of this liminal period, though the urge to prepare is perfectly natural and healthy. Visualize new horizons and best possible outcomes. See the tip of the archer’s arrow, fixed to a lucky star.

Heads up: this moon phase squares Neptune Retrograde in Pisces which means that we need to manage expectations; avoid alcohol; and lean hard on Virgo to stay grounded in reality. Get lots of sleep, boost your immune system.
